PROJECT, MANUFACTURE, DELIVERY, ASSEMBLY OF FURNITURE

Manufacture of Modern Furniture for a Boutique Hotel on the French Riviera

On the French Riviera, in the heart of Menton, a boutique hotel Hôtel Gabriel has opened, where every interior detail tells its own unique story. The team of CIVILLY French Riviera took on the ambitious task of creating furniture that combines aesthetics, functionality, and durability, perfectly fits each room, and highlights the hotel's individuality.

01. DESCRIPTION:

The project was initiated by HES Corporation, a leading supplier of furniture for French hotels. Our team closely collaborated with the company’s architects as well as the owners’ architect to implement their vision and adapt solutions to the specific features of the premises.

02. STYLE:

The furniture is crafted in the new wave of modernism style: soft color palette, smooth shapes, and a variety of textures create comfort and coziness for guests.

03. COMPLETED AND PLANNED WORK:

CIVILLY French Riviera provided a full cycle of work: design, manufacture, installation, and furniture logistics. We controlled every stage of the project, including checking fastenings, materials, and installation methods. Planned work includes ongoing maintenance of the furniture and potential updates of textures and finishes.

Hotel Furniture Production: Civilly Project for a Boutique Hotel in Menton

Civilly carried out a unique hotel furniture production project on the French Riviera. The boutique hotel Hôtel Gabriel in Menton became a place where our team demonstrated professionalism, individual approach, and high quality. The client was HES Corporation, one of the leading suppliers of hotel furniture in France, valuing reliability and competence of manufacturers worldwide.

Each room has its own unique interior design, including Lavande, Mimosa, Jasmin, and Camélia categories, with different bed sizes, headboard colors, and furniture textures.

This project demonstrates the importance of custom furniture design for hotels and boutique hotels, where every detail matters.

Our solutions provided a harmonious combination of aesthetics and functionality, and guests noted comfort, coziness, and space in every room. The hotel owners also highly appreciated the quality of the furniture immediately after installation.

Our Furniture Production and Team

Our hotel furniture production provides a full cycle: from concept development to manufacturing and on-site installation. We create high-quality custom furniture that combines aesthetics, functionality, and ergonomics without compromise.

The Civilly team guarantees:

  • High quality and durability at a more affordable price;

  • Fast manufacturing without long waits;

  • Warranty service and prompt replacement of parts;

  • Custom solutions tailored to each room.

Our craftsmen turn ideas into unique interior items, taking into account the specifics of each space. This approach allowed the successful implementation of the project for Hôtel Gabriel.

Collaboration with Architects and Project Preparation

The furniture design was developed by the owners’ architect with close collaboration with HES Corporation architects and our furniture production engineers. Our team carefully analyzed the technical specifications, proposed alternative solutions for elements that could not be executed as initially planned, and considered all fastenings and details based on the characteristics of walls and structures.

This collaboration allowed the creation of furniture perfectly aligned with the architects’ vision and the owners’ requirements. Over several months, extensive preparatory work was carried out, including detailed development of technical details, fastenings, and installation methods, ensuring flawless results on-site.

Furniture Concept and Design

For the hotel, we developed furniture in the style of new wave of modernism.

Project features:

  • Soft color palette and rounded edges;

  • Variety of textures and materials;

  • Selection of fabrics and careful detailing of each element;

  • Harmonious integration of furniture into interiors reflecting the Riviera atmosphere.

The furniture creates coziness and a modern appearance for the hotel, emphasizing the uniqueness of each room.

Room Variability and Complexity of Assembly and Installation

The boutique hotel concept assumes uniqueness of each room. Even if rooms repeat on different floors, they may differ in bed sizes, headboard types, or furniture colors. For example, one room has a large single bed, while another has a transformable twin bed with a different headboard size. Such differences create high variability in furniture and require precise design and manufacturing.

Particular complexity arose when integrating furniture into prepared niches. Renovation and finishing were performed by an external company, so we had to carefully monitor work quality to ensure the furniture fit correctly. In some cases, niches were uneven, and our engineers found solutions to conceal gaps and achieve perfect installation.

Technical Specification Challenges

The project started with a simple technical specification but gradually became more complex:

  • Each room is unique: bed sizes, headboards, furniture color and texture vary. Even repeating rooms on different floors have their own characteristics.

  • Integration into niches: some furniture items had to fit precisely into prepared niches.

  • Construction work monitoring: renovation and finishing were done by an external company, requiring constant quality checks to ensure furniture fit correctly.

  • Correction of irregularities: due to uneven walls and niches, additional measures were taken to hide gaps and ensure perfect installation.

Civilly’s experience shows that combining furniture production and construction work is crucial for perfect results, and even with external contractors, we achieved flawless results.

Deadlines and Responsibility

The project had strict contract terms: the hotel had to open for the Lemon Festival in Menton, and a penalty of €100 per day was applied for any late room delivery. Despite increased risks, our team fully met all obligations more than a week before the opening, ensuring perfect readiness of all rooms.

Logistics and Delivery: A Real Thriller

Delivering the furniture to France was a separate challenge. During the truck’s journey through Italy, illegal migrants boarded it, and the transport was detained by the police. The CIVILLY French Riviera team quickly handled all formalities, including paying fines and coordinating with authorities, to recover the cargo and ensure furniture safety.

A particular challenge occurred when a 17-meter truck had to enter central Menton. We insisted that it first unload at HES’s warehouse and then use smaller vehicles for city delivery due to narrow streets. However, HES Corporation and the owners wanted the truck to go directly to the hotel to reduce costs. This required city permits, booking parking spots for two days, and police assistance to clear the streets. We pre-checked the route, turning radii, and bridge heights. The nighttime delivery succeeded, but daytime exit was complex due to traffic, parked cars, and the need to remove street signs for safe turns. In the end, the truck was unloaded and furniture delivered without damage.

The furniture could have been delivered pre-assembled, reducing assembly time and cost, but it greatly increased logistics due to volume and inability to fit everything in one truck. Therefore, it was transported disassembled. Numerous pieces required careful labeling and specification. All elements were marked at production and later sorted for assembly.

Another difficulty was that the hotel’s freight elevator was out of service. Furniture had to be manually delivered to the fifth floor. Some pieces were lifted with an external hoist, but most were carried up a narrow spiral staircase. The building is old, stairs are small, and there was a high risk of damage, but the team handled it carefully and successfully.

On-site assembly was conducted with precision: each element was checked against drawings, niches adjusted, and furniture integrated considering walls and finishes.

Project Results

The project for Hôtel Gabriel demonstrated Civilly’s ability to tackle the most complex tasks in hotel furniture production — from collaboration with architects and HES Corporation, meticulous engineering, detailing, to successful delivery even in extreme situations. The furniture completely transformed the hotel’s interior, giving rooms a modern and cozy appearance. The project confirmed Civilly’s high competence in producing furniture for hotels and boutique hotels on the French Riviera, where custom solutions, high variability, and strict deadlines are essential.

We are proud of the result and ready to create furniture for hotels on the French Riviera, including Menton, providing a personalized approach, quality, and aesthetic perfection. We did not just make furniture — we helped our clients create a successful business!
